Episode 9 | Lessons from Buffett

TSF Blog | “Lessons from Buffett”

A quick Shmoogle search will offer up literally dozens of quotes from the billionaire “Oracle of Omaha,” Warren Buffett. And whether it’s to do with his success in business or his quirky, humble, almost grandfatherly approach to explaining investing, most people feel inclined to listen when the man imbues his wisdom.

One of our favorite quotes is not only honest and direct, it rings relevance when it comes to the coaching industry where trust and credibility are still being earned.

He said, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.”

Simply put, your reputation, and/or the reputation of your coaching business, are among the most important factors in determining whether or not you are successful. And it’s good to remember that your reputation as a coach is fragile. It takes one disappointed client, one event participant whose expectations were not met, one promise unkept to discredit you as a coach. We can’t rely on past successes to shield us from future problems.

To protect your reputation, you need to be proactive; this means you could monitor what others are saying about your coaching business and respond, professionally. You need to actively promote a positive online experience, which might mean answering questions quickly and consistently, posting positive messages and helpful information, even supporting other coach colleagues.

The Success Finder is working daily to create a platform that will provide a single-point solution for these proactive measures: direct communication with clients, a credible source for information and resource-sharing, and a community of professional coaches and clients who are experiencing genuine results.

We’re gonna help you “sell” without selling, and we’re going to protect and grow your greatest asset: your reputation. Stay tuned!
