We’re calling you out. You social media algorithm players. You know who you are. You love the click-bait. You dangle the carrots. You make it funny, or provocative, or clever, and you do it all to stay on top of our feeds.
But here’s the thing. It’s cheap. And easy. And at the end of the day, the noise you’re making – the congestion you’re causing – it adds no value. It meets no real needs. Instead of creating the messaging you should be sending out into the world -messages about truth and information sharing and connection – instead you’re using your platform to create distraction. You are throwing away your shot.
You may think you’re creating relevancy – like more clicks and likes and engagement means you’re succeeding. But if it doesn’t represent you, and all that you have to offer, it’s a waste of your time. And more importantly, it’s a waste of your clients’ time.
Cheap and easy may get you noticed. But it won’t earn business or credibility. Stay authentic, be true to your brand, and know that good things come to those who stay above the noise.
